ECI/ELM 547 Children's Literature
This was one of the most helpful courses in regards to exposure to different tools to use in the classroom. This course focused on the importance of being familiar with a variety of children's literature, reading all genres, and analyzing books in order to effectively teach literacy skills.
- In this course I increased my PowerPoint skills significantly. I learned how to record narration over my power point and how to upload my project onto my YouTube channel in order to share. These skills will help me add narration to power points I've created to support word work in the classroom.

- This course helped me organize and expand my knowledge of Pinterest. To support students' literacy skills, I contacted our literacy coach and explained how our co-hort utilized Pinterest to collaborative and share ideas. She loved this idea and is creating a k-2 & 3-5 literacy board and inviting all the staff members to join. This way, the hours of pinning we do at home when looking for ways to support literacy skills can be shared with our colleges!
- This course gave me an opportunity to further explore the web 2.0 tool Storybird and help me create ideas on how to implement it in the classroom. I created a Storybird the correlated to the text The One and Only Ivan by generating a question to ask my peers.
- Here is the link to my Storybird from this class: http://storybird.com/books/the-one-and-only-ivan/?token=v6srzarpz6.
- This course discussed Literature Circles and class discussions after reading children's literature. To hold my upper leveled reading groups accountable for rich discussions about the text, I am going to teach them how to record their interactions with a flip camera. This technology tool will not only hold them accountable for staying on topic, using language stems, and generating higher leveled questions for peers but also increase motivation to participate!
- This course introduced me to the concept of blogging using WordPress! We were required to blog about fifteen different children's texts and post them for our peers to view. I learned how to upload pictures to a blog, "tag" my blogs, and comments on other blogs.

- This course required me to create a lesson plan with peers using Google Docs. I learned how to create a Google Doc, invite other members, and collaborate on a task as a team.
